Yes Ivy! That is true.
You cannot begrudge someone their happiness simply because it doesn't fit your ideals about a healthy body etc.
To claim a person bed ridden and spoon fed can't be happy is childishly absurd. The person is successful, loved and cared for, in no pain, and greatly stimulated by life. It is narrow minded, not realistic, to think someone like Stephen Hawking is not happy and fulfilling his dreams, or that someone missing limbs cannot achieve great happiness. To blindly subscribe to some arbitrary ideal that to be happy requires a perfect physique, and no great problems to deal with, is to live in ignorance of the human condition. We are here because of our imperfections.
Great pain - physical or emotional - is the real enemy, and is perceived differently in each of us.
