Years ago, I used to live in Las Vegas. So I'm familiar with that area.
No bathrooms in the desert for sure, but actually plenty of convenient rocks and bushes you can squat behind so as to make yourself invisible to passing motorists. Of course, I know you're not allowed to park on the freeway, so you've got to find a turnoff someplace.
The dire warnings about
snakes are totally overblown. Rattle snakes are seldom seen in the daytime, and not a problem at night except in summer. And right now it's February - the snakes should be in hibernation though they may sun themselves on a rock if it's warm enough. They are not aggressive, but in the very rare instance you see one, just leave it alone and it will leave you alone.
Anyway, I suggest you keep a box of tissue or toilet paper in the trunk of the car. A bottle of water for washing hands too. A flashlight for nighttime runs. All essential "survival gear" in the wilderness!
By the way, I find the combination of Pepto-Bismol and imodium to be more effective than either one alone.
cheers,
Robert
