Hi everyone. I suffer from small bowel obstructions on a regular basis. Probably get one once every couple of weeks. My last one was the end of february. I was completely blocked and a ng tube was inserted. I was put on high dose corticosteroids and given cipro and flagyl. After I was able to tolerate the liquid diet then the low fiber/low residue diet in the hospital, I was sent home. I have continued on the low residue/low fiber diet but I'm terrified after eating. I eat hard boiled eggs in the morning with toast. After I eat I panic. I'm so scared that I'm going to block. Same thing after lunch and dinner. I'm ok while eating it's afterwards that I freak out. I am on 20mg of prednisone after weaning from 40mg. Every 7 days I am to taper by 5mg. I have noticed a huge difference in my bm's since being on 40mg to 20mg. I HATE steroids but, they make me feel better. I am scheduled for surgery in May....again. This will be my second small bowel resection. I have a nasty stricture at the reconnection site from the previous surgery which is why I block so easily. I'm terrified of blocking again before surgery b/c I am on the steroids. Surgeon wants me off the prednisone before surgery so as to hopefully not get a ileostomy. I had a temp ileostomy in the previous surgery for 10 weeks then it was reversed. So, question is: How can I not trigger a panic attack after eating? I'm scared out of my mind after eating and I can't stand it. Any ideas on how to ease my mind after eating? Thanks
