Prednisone by injection instead of by mouth??

Steroids can be given by intramuscular injection, or by intravenous injection. IV steroids are usually given t to treat sudden, often life threatening events like anaphylactic shock or an asthma attack.

I have received IM injections of steroids for things like a sudden flare of my AS affecting multiple joints. The rheumy wanted to get a jump start on getting the inflammation under control. I then started on a course of oral prednisone to continue the inflammation fight.

Another time I had acute inflammation in my ear affecting my hearing and that was very painful. The doctor wanted my to do a short burst of steroids starting at 80 mg tapering down. Problem is, any dose above 30 mg and my blood pressure goes sky high. Injections of steroids make my BP higher but not dangerously so like oral does. So the doctor gave me the steroids intramuscularly and that was it. Got rid of the inflammation and no need for oral meds.

I seriously doubt they would let you inject yourself with steroids. Perhaps if you had an LPN or RN you knew that would be willing....I doubt though that you would need the injections every day. I say ask the doctor. At least he'll know how seriously the pills mess up your stomach.
