Hi, all. I've been on and off the forum for several years. I've been doing pretty well on meds that include Humira, methotrexate and prednisone. Back in 2004 CT imaging during a flare said things looked like crohn's. Was referred to a gastro who said, you've never had any ER visits for this before, so we'll just see if it comes back. RX antibiotics and pain meds. In 2005 it all happened again. This time CT said probable crohn's. Gastro started me on Pentasa then sulfasalazine. During this time was also suffering from inflammatory arthritis. Because I wasn't "classic" crohn's, the gastros turned me over to the rheumatologists in about 2007, and rheumys eventually started the current meds.
Had an annoying gut flare and tried to see a new gastro in 2009. They did the Prometheus blood test that came back ulcerative colitis. Couldn't afford any diagnostic, so went back to the rheumy for continued care.
Fast forward to now: finally had to quit working due to my combined ailments in March. Sold my home and moved closer to my daughter. No insurance. Saw a new gastro to get established. Of course she wanted a colonoscopy, since there hadn't been one since 05.
Sorry this is so long, but I'd appreciate any thoughts. I told doc I wasn't flaring and had been doing fairly well, but I agreed to the test.
Office called a few days after colonoscopy and said all was fine; got the path report in the mail this week. These sentences were found within the "all is fine" other sentences:
Ascending colon biopsy: Minimal acute chronic inflammation is seen.
Descending biopsy: Lamina propria has minimal chronic inflammation along with edema.
Polyp with glands: Proliferation of adenomatous epithelium with nuclear stratification. The lamina propria has mildly increased acute and chronic inflammation.
Rectal biopsy: focal areas showing vascular congestion.
Do people without IBD get these remarks in their "all is fine" pathology reports?
Thank you in advance for any comments. Janet
