cimzia and methotrexate?? has anyone been on both?

Hi there everyone.....

It has been super long since I have visited healing well.  I have been still fighting the good fight with crohns disease.  I finally decided to get a second opinion since I have not had a remission since first diagnosed.  I have tried Remicade, Humira and Cimzia.  cimzia is the only one to be doing some help along with prednisone.  The new doc recommends i try methotrexate wtih cimzia.  He seems to believe that my inflammation is not all T cell related since I respond to prednisone so much better.  Goal is to get off pred since been on for almost 3 yrs.  So....the big question has anyone been on both cimzia and methotrexate together?  I am scared of the side effects but also am aware I want a quality of life and have not had much of one in 6 plus yrs.

I am willing to try just about anything but would love some input from others who may have tried these meds in combo

I'm on Cimzia and methotrexate pills....not been working for me ...it's slightly better for a few weeks after I take it....but then the old pain comes back. I start today on Methotrexate injections, and then cimzia every 2 weeks instead of 4...hopefully that will work, though I have my doubts, I think I've become immune to all these meds :-( I'll let you know how it goes.....hope it works for you!!

I have never taken cimzia, but I was on methotrexate injections for a year. Read this whole reply for me - it was the worst. BUT, then my Crohn's got better! I fought with my doctor to please let him take me off of it, but I'm glad he didn't. Metho put me in remission. I would give it to myself every Friday night. At first, I had bad flu-like symptoms and slept the whole weekend away. That rest was actually good for me. Then, after about four months, I was able to do it Friday and be down until Saturday afternoon. Then after six months, I was going out on Friday nights. It really helped with the inflammation. The only thing is, it made my skin so bad. Ugly breakouts that left scars - I'm on Yaz now and it's helping but it's taken awhile for my skin to get back to normal.

Metho was the worst thing that ever happened to me...but it saved my life.
