So I was wondering if anyone can tell me why every time my urine is checked I have hyaline casts in it and a lot of white blood cells. Ihad never had a uti until after the birth of my son when I started this flare. No burning or anything like that. The first time was I had to pee a lot and my urine was a more orangish yellow. They told me it was a uti and sent me on my way. After that I've had 2 or 3 different times where I could tell the color was changing and they took tests, told me it wasn't a uti but told me to take Antibotics for 3 days. Each of those times I still had WBC and hyaline casts in all the lab results. (I can see them all online). Why would I need Antibotics if it wasn't a uti? It has been 3 or so months since the last time they checked my urine and I know if they do it again it's going to look the same. I was thinking about calling them but I know I can't have my remicade on tuesday if I start Antibotics so I want to wait until after that. I'm guessing I'm going to have to see a urologist, my gyno said if I had anything that even sort of resembeled a uti she was sending me over. She said 3 in a year max is ok with her and I think they have told me 3 times now that I did have a uti. Besides the other 2 or 3. Does that make since? And what could cause this?

Perhaps inflammation from the intestines is irritating the bladder and causing the blood in the urine?

Maybe your uterus has dropped some and is putting some mild pressure on the bladder?

"They" just don't seem to be all that concerned about blood in the urine any more once they've checked for any obvious abnormalities as long as we are asymptomatic.

Look up "hematuria" online.

My urine is always lemon yellow from the Imuran and/or Pentasa. I'm 70 and past menopause obviously yet occasionally I will get a day or even two or three w/pink or brown spotting for which we can find no cause.

A few weeks ago w/absolutely no symptoms whatsover I dumped enough blood in my urine that you couldn't see the bottom of the toilet so I went to ER. An ultrasound, CT scan and cystoscopy found absolutely no abnormalites in the bladder, kidneys, ureters or urethra. The first urine culture done in ER did show likely bacteria and budding yeast so I was scripted Keflex for 7 days and 1 day dose of Diflucan. My urine cleared up to a point. A urine culture done the day of the urologist's cystoscopy revealed some blood in the urine but no bacteria or yeast - so - no medication, no worry, live w/it.

Well, I've had a "UTI"/kidney infection/bladder infection every 2 weeks for almost 3 years now. I get my urine tested a lot due to all my flares & the meds I'm on. The doctors used to give me antibiotics like candy but now I don't think they care. They know I flare frequently & that's why I always have white blood cells in my urine. White blood cells usually are a sign you have an infection/inflammation. Crohn's disease is almost all about inflammation & infection so it makes sense.

Like crohnietoo, I live with it. It's no big deal. A urologist would probably laugh at me if I went to him for just frequent UTI's/kidney infections/bladder infections when I usually have very little pain & I already know I have issues with Crohn's affecting my bladder.

I have Interstitial Cystitis - a bladder disease which causes pinpoint bleeding and ulcerations inside the bladder. It is painful, irritated by various foods and substances (MSG, nitrates, minerals, etc.). When my bladder is flaring, I have white blood cells in my urine. Only when I have bacteria and WBC is it considered an infection for me.

I think a urologist is in order if you have bladder pain (which may be hard to distinguish from your stomach/intestine pain), burning, frequency, urethra pain or urine retention. Message me if you want/need more info about Interstitial Cystitis.
