I MIGHT be having a seton placement in a few weeks for a pouch-vaginal fistula. The exterior opening is just outside the vaginal opening.
What does the actual seton look like: I'm picturing a thin string/thread - made out of either silk or some kind of rubber? What determines whether silk or rubber will be used?
And ... it's my understanding that the seton is threaded through the fistula track, and then tied together on the outside of the body, so this loop of string will be on the outside of my body looking oh so lovely?
How does one live with these?!? I mean, how can one exercise, be hygienic (I "go" about 8 - 12 times/day), or have sexual relations, especially considering the placement of a vaginal fistula seton - doesn't the seton pull, get in the way, and/or cause pain? Can it get twisted/pulled out/etc.?
Sorry, just starting to freak out about this. VIEW IMAGE Thanks for sharing your experiences!
