And it all went smoothly if you discount the vomiting. >_>
It's the second one I've had and the prep was slightly different to the first one. The first time I drank a litre of horrible laxative stuff. This time I drank a litre of horrible diluted laxative stuff. This wasn't meant to have a laxative effect, but it actually did - later on, when I was back home, thankfully.
Anyway, I was given some orange squash to put into the drink, which was nice of the nurse. It made it less foul, although it was still hard work chugging it down. It was also slightly fizzy, which I think made it sit badly on my stomach. At any rate, I was taken into the MRI scanner room, divested of all metal objects, including my glasses. I was given a choice of which radio station to pick, but since I remember only hearing 3 or 4 short snippets in total, it didn't really seem worth it.
I don't really get why people find MRI scans claustrophobic, when your head is at the end of the tunnel and you're looking out into a spacious room. I actually find it rather relaxing; weird loud rattles and all. It's probably all the being told to take a deep breath in, then a deep breath out...... <_<
The nausea came on suddenly near the end of the scan. Tried to ignore it but - TMI alert - I threw up inside my mouth. Just about managed to contain it to get through the holding my breath bit, but after that I had to sound the buzzer. I couldn't speak but thank god the technician got the meaning behind my frantic hand signals and brought over a tray. Cue vomiting several times.
The technician said they had the pics they needed and could have stopped there, but like a boss I went back into the tunnel and had the final scan <_<.
So... I'll know the results in a month's time! Somewhat annoyingly, I'm due to see the surgeon before the consultant, when I would rather it had been the other way round. I hope the surgeon has the MRI results, otherwise it'll be a bit of a wasted appointment :\
On a different subject, it's my nephew's birthday today. My mum and I are going over there. I look most forward to testing out the chocolate cake I made for him yesterday :p
