If you eat something wrong, how long does it take you to flare up?

I posted two days ago that I ate a ready -made cake and it caused me watery D and fecal leakage. However, starting yestetday night I started to have very severe abdominal cramps, fatigue and nausea In addition to the watery D. I increased my pentasa intake but it's not working. I thought mistakenly that the results of the cake were just the watery D and soiling but it's a flare up.
I saw another surgeon for the leakage but he recommended I return again to my previous GI and see another GI in another city for second opinion. He is not convinced that I should have taken pred and MTX since I have no clearcut diagnosis based on the clean colonscopies. However, he is quite sure that my previous GI had a rationale for prescribing these meds.
Now, I have this flare up and have to deal with it on my own until I see this new GI next week.

I have never eaten anything that caused a flare of my Crohn's disease, unless you count a dose of Aleve.

I have UC officially but its a bit on the indeterminate side and might be crohn's- anyway, the typical delay for me with offending foods is about 12-24 h in terms of pain and D, but sometimes I can feel some mikd pain, cramp and flatulence before that, within a couple hours, forewarning of what will come the next day.

Nicecupoftea- in my case offending food can actually put me into a real hinest to goodness flare.

The only thing that gives me abdominal pains almost right away, is when I eat dairy without taking  my lacotose pills.

If you are lactose intolerant, which alot of Crohn's sufferers are, maybe there was some kind of dairy in the cake that you ate.  Just a thought.
