and a whole lot of other things.  Hi, dorri here.  Last

Sept I went off prednisone on the advice of my

General Practitioner.  I've been picking up

everything and the diarrhea is relentless.

I went back to my GI who thinks the prednisone

was controlling the inflammation so now he's

sending me for a CT scan to see what is going on.

In 2003 I had a resection losing 3 ft of bowel. 

From then up till now, it's been pretty good but

I never lost the dang diarrhea which is with me

everywhere I go.  In 2009 and 2010 I had small

bowel series showing a long segment of

narrowing which they said was scar tissue.  I still

haven't had that removed.  I hope my scan will be

okay and when I say that I mean I hope I'm

treatable.  I've had crohn's for approx

32 years. The GI ran multiple tests including a

ACTH test to check my adrenal glands.

I have always had D when I had my resection years ago I had D and I have had D everyday after my resection .. I think there are some people out there that actually have normal bowel habits but I have never had anything normal esp since I've have CD ... This is just something I have accepted because I cannot imagine it any other way anymore some days I go more than others but always D no matter what medication I am on

Me as well, I know where every washroom is in this city, lol. I must say I was more than grateful to get rid of the pain with surgery, but I was and am discouraged with the diarrhea. Right now it does serve a purpose as it is better to have it rather than constipation with my narrowing.

One of the possible causes of having d after resections is because of the removal of the ileocecal valve.
I've been going through the same thing. I use cholestyramine to help bulk me up, and take imodium sometimes too. Neither work perfectly, but I'll take what I can get.

Have you guys tried cholestyramine (questran)? Also the right probiotic might help too. I use a strong multi-blend one called Primal Defense. Strong probiotics sometimes cause detox, so it could take a couple of weeks or so to work better. I also find chamomile tea is very calming and healing for the bowels, and peppermint tea is helpful for spasms.

I have used Questran and still do minimally. Now I have to really watch because of the narrowing in the small bowel. I take half to quarter portion of the powder packet and even then I don't feel good after.
Imodium is out of the question at this time.

I do need to concentrate on getting in more probiotics. Haven't tried the cammomile tea but have some on hand. I don't use mint because it causes the GERD to be worse.
