Food Allergy Testing/Crohn's disease

Where do you live? The reason I ask is Chapei Hill UNC Hospital in NC has conducted research on crohns patients who experience severe pain but have no active crohns in imaging (like MRI's and CT's) and bloodwork with normal CRP's. I have had severe pain for almost a year and my GI at Duke couldn't find anything so I went to UNC. There my GI ran all the tests including a colonoscopy which was pretty normal. He gave me literature and told me I had what is called post traumatic stress diorder for crohns which is real pain. A pain monitor showed where I have real pain and it is bad. What happened was I have a resection and my colon and SI still think I have crohns. My gut no longer has the villa which responds to pain and sends this response to the brain to react normally. My gut can't do this so any pain, stress, or triggers cause me bad pain. He said that I can't deal with situations like normal people because of these problems. He started me out on Seroquel because this drug grows the nerve fibers in the small intestines that I no longer have. This has been proven at UNC in petri dishes. I so far can't tolerate this drug due to a drunken feeling. I was doing great for about 3 months, meaning a little more good days than bad but this week everything is going downhill and I am back with pain, diarrhea, nausea and the works. You just need to find his trigger for one thing, which could be a muliple of things and also I recommend asking your GI about PTSD in crohns. This is a new discovery.

 

A GI prescibing the SCD diet?  Is he in NC?? I might make the trip!
