A little venting/questions?

Well, feel like having a big cry.  I haven't been feeling well for a month or more.  Doctor put me on Imuran that I was on for 3.5 weeks.  In the second week developed small bowel obstruction, in the 3rd week developed a high fever and weight loss (weird kind of weight loss,  I was skin and bone and looked like a wrinkled burst balloon with no substance.  I wanted to go to ER again but tried going off the medication first.  My doctors weren't around to ask so I went off myself.  The next day the fever dropped to normal and has remained normal since.  I have put on a pound or two and the horrible emancipated look is starting slowly to fill in.  However I do not have my energy back even though I'm eating and drinking.  I feel so tired and need to lay down often.  I'm worried about that. Both my doctors are on holidays, but I have an appointment with one on Friday when he returns, and hope he doesn't give me a hard time for going off the medication.    I felt like I was finished..  I'm so fed up.  The small bowel obstruction was my first in many years.  The last one was before my surgery.  Could the imuran have caused me all this trouble, or was it purely co incidental that it all happened at the same time?  Thanks for listening.

Obstruction is NOT usually a side effect of Imuran. More likely to be incidental.

But I don't know about the others side effects.

If your inflamed tissue, swelled, and caused an obstruction, it can be undone with meds. Imuran should be a good bet, but it seems it didn't work. Time to try other options.

Thanks for the replies. I just don't know what to think? My obstruction pain was under my belly button and in the lower abdomen. However after it let go on a fluid diet, I still had a pain that remained the whole time of taking the med that was in the middle, above the belly button, and between the ribs in the space that makes an upside down V. When I quit taking the med, that pain disappeared as well. The nausea lingered for longer, and I still get some nausea. When I had the fever I was getting stabbing pains in my joints and had a dull pain across my mid abdomen and back. I wish I would have gone to ER again, then maybe they would have made sense of this all. All I do know for sure, I thought it was the end for me. I was very sick. I've had obstructions and anemia before, but never was my weakness so prolonged as it is now.
I'm not looking forward to seeing the doctor. His medicine scares me, and if he gives me something else right now that doesn't work and makes me sick, it will probably finish me off.
