Constipated Diarrhea

Yeah. I get the same thing :/ ... Diarrhoea without any urgency or signal to go; at the worst, I've had to 'push' liquid diarrhoea out, which doesn't make sense to me, but there you go. When it's like that, I don't tend to go very much either. I can almost 'feel' the stool in my colon; it's all quite uncomfortable.

Recently though, I've been tending towards more frequent diarrhoea and even some urgency.

Anyway, when 'constipated', I find it fairly helpful to lie on my side on the floor (not a soft surface, like a bed). As well encouraging things to move, it is also the most soothing position to be in when my stomach is sore or hurting.

One possibility is that you might be having 'overflow' diarrhoea, that is, diarrhoea which makes its way round a solid mass in your colon or rectum. That's called faecal impaction. And it's grim, grim, grim. If you suspect you have that, a few sachets of Miralax will help soften and pass it, but make sure you stay close to a toilet.

I have too!!! I find that I have alot of urgency sometimes...I go from diarrhea to constipation...back and forth..

I get that, lots of running to the can with little bits of diarrhea.

that has been the story of my life for the past week, so weird, constipated diarrhea, did not go all day yesterday, and had this horrible feeling all day in my tummy, and today went 4 times, but had to push really hard to get the diarrhea out

I had this fecal impaction issue before and stayed constipated for 9 days w/o having a single bm. The rectal surgeon then prescribed an aggressive laxative. I learnt afterwards not to let myself constipated for more than 3 days. I take a laxative. Regarding the pushed D, I do have it a lot of times and when I tell my GI he either refers it back to the narrowness of my rectum as I have proctitis or thinks it to be a viral issue and prescribes an antiviral drug.

Do you ever feel it could be from a partial small bowel obstruction? I have a problem like this atleast every 3 weeks. Normally, I have just plain out diarrhea but once in a while I will have this problem and it is so painful. I do end up having to take some sort of laxative. I feel the same pain I had when they found a small bowel obstruction and did surgery. I could be wrong and nothing has showed up on xray but this is just how it feels with the waves of pain. I will at the end pass gas and do have some diarrhea that gets through by pressing my stomach and rectum a certain way. TMI.. Can anyone else relate??

I talked to my MD's RN today. He is out for weekend. I told her my situation with this and also my current flare symptoms. She said that fecal impaction would come out as hard stools and little hard balls maybe. Mine comes out as soft and D. I think I have a partial obstruction. Just FYI.

Ps still having "constipated diarrhea" ended up in emergency for the flu and NO obstruction. Just a sideeffx of inflammation. Still praying for a let up in thisflare.
