Been awhile, thought I would say hi. And I have a question

Hello, I had a busy summer. As I posted in the past I have been put on Pentasa. I take 500mg 4 times a day. It works sometimes is that normal?? Let me explain, My urgancy is almost gone. I used to loose bowel control about once a wekk. and I had watery stools all the time unless I took my 9 immodium. I havent taken immodium in a month, yea. But sometimes I have loose bowels. But I no when I have to go. My weight is going down, I was 138 I am down to 134. Some days I have no energy. My appitite varies. I called my dr and he wants me to give the petasas a try. I dont mind because this is the best I have felt in years. I just fininsed a round of flagyl, turned my toungue white. That was 3 weeksa ago, because I had alot of pain and some blood. My blood is gone and the pain is bearable. Ive been on the pentasa for 3 months approx. They dont want to try other meds because i have a heart condition, asacol didnt work for me. I cant remember who it was on here that told me asacol treats the large bowel and my chrons may be in the small bowel. Well they were right, thanks. The dr said the same thing, :)

Dusty, I'm so glad you're feeling better on the Pentasa. I had a similar experience as you with asacol and the switching to pentasa.

I don't know if you've considered going gluten free, bu I think it might be worth a shot. Even tho pentasa worked really well for me, I still had loose stool. Two weeks of no gluten I had solid stool, and I've remained gluten free since then.

One thing that used to confuse me about gluten was the fact that I do not have Celiac disease. I learned from others here, and from some reading on my own, that gluten intolerance - sepaprate from Celiacs, is not that uncommon.

thanks alot I will try the glutin free, I tried meditation, accupuncture and even chiropracture. but not glutin free because they said I was not allergic. But its worth a shot. I like my gastro but he told me if this treatment doesnt work or i loose more weight he is sending me to a research hospital so I really want this to work. thanks so much for the suggestions I appreciate them. and will try them.
