Hey guys I am new to this site and looks like you guys know a lot about PG from experiences. I am newly diagnosed with PG. Not sure about any other diagnosis yet. Got lots of doctors appointments in the near future. The problem I am having with the wound is that it heals and will stay closed a few weeks then get really purple and reopen. It is on my lower leg and today I was cleaning the house and my ankle began to hurt (I have an ankle injury that needs surgery but I cannot have it done until the wound has been healed 3 months. Doc doesn't want to cast it up with the chances this wound will reopen). I looked down and of course the ankle was swollen like crazy but the PG scar had turned a dark purple and looks lumpy almost like a varicose vein. This is what happened just before it busted open again last time. My question is does anyone know how to prevent these things from opening? Or is it just treatment after it opens. I have searched every site on the internet and only found treatment for open wounds. I have seen also to keep the underlying condition under control, which I don't know what it is yet. I see a GI doc Tuesday. Still haven't seen my PCP since being diagnosed. I have IBD symptoms but also some RA symptoms which seems to be the ones mostly occurring with PG from what I have read. Think I should set up an appointment with. Rheumatologist or wait on my PCP. I called him when I was diagnosed a month ago and earliest he could see me is in 2 more weeks so I am ill at him. I went ahead and made an appointment with GI because the wound doc told me I needed to go there but not sure about going ahead and going to the rheumatologist or not. I am just ready for some answers and waiting almost 2 months for my PCP seems to long for me.
