Skin Problems Associated with Crohn's? Itchy, dry skin?

Do any of you have any skin problems that act up when you are in a flare?

I have just recently developed a psoriasis-type rash in my scalp. I am also a lot of itching and burning in my vaginal area and the split of my rear end (I have confirmed it is not a yeast infection or bladder infection). I also have a few dry and itchy patches of skin in other places.

I remember getting a few of these dry patches when I was first diagnosed with Crohn's years ago. However, they went away, and I have not seen them until recently.

I just wondered if this may be related to my Crohn's disease. I do think I may be starting to flare up as my trips to the bathroom have increased a lot over the past few weeks.

oh my gosh im so glad i am not alone. i thought i just had dry skin but its alqays itchy in the same spots on my chest and my neck i also noticed my faceis dryer admy scalp itches sometimes. iam also on humira and it ust seems like i have every random side effect while taking it .
question has anyone been experiencing brain fog ???

I wonder though if I have a totally separate issue. If I have psoriasis or some other skin problem, it is a possibility that the Crohn's meds (which are also used to treat skin problems) were keeping the skin problems under control too.

I had a resection about 3 years ago and have not been on any meds since. It seems like if I had the skin problems, they would have resurfaced before now. I just think it's weird that they appeared as I began to notice more visits to the restroom.

So confusing! I remember getting these white patches in several places when I was younger, but they went away. Now, I have psoriasis in my scalp, an itchy/burning rear end, and one dry patch on my stomach. I just don't get it.

There is a type of Crohn's called Cutaneous Metastatic Crohn's. It is catagorized by skin problems, sometimes confused with Bichet's. These skin problems can be all over the body but when this part of Crohn's presents, it is known to appear in the genital/vaginal area.

fairweather- I have it and it can be EXTREMELY painful. The pain is severe to urinate from the alcohol in the urine to tough the sores. The sores can completely dominate the vaginal area to the point where nurses cannot see where to insert a normal catheter.

If you are having any pain in that area, ask your doctor to prescribe you lidocaine. It's a gel-like substance that will numb the area on contact. It's a god-send!

I'm usually in the Lupus conversations, but I was searching for "itchy skin" and came across the Crohn's group.

When I read Sarah's post, I felt like I had made a discovery. Lately, I have been having sharp pains, beginning on my left side (where an ovary would be if I had any)--and then the right side joined in. It's mainly when I bend over.

I am either constipated or have diarrhea--and many other problems. BUT, a couple of weeks ago, I broke out in something like an ugly diaper rash, with red bumps/blisters in a symmetrical circle around the border of the red, red rash. Crazy!!!!! And my vaginal area felt like yeast. Yep, it burned to tinkle!

I applied straight aloe vera to the whole area and got some yeast ointment. It was better in a few days, and about a week or so after, it was all better.

Does that sound similar to what was described?

again ..... i have to jump in and say YEAST.... reading all these posts , these seem like yeast problems

I seem to be the only one who ever relates this???? Fixing my yeast , fixed my crohns,,, maybe im a freak and the only one who has had crohns any yeast ( detecting it outside of the GI as they dont believe in it)

Some of you should try the 645.00 test from great plans. im telling you it will really open your eyes as to all the things going on in you--- urine and stool... far better then any Local lab test your GI uses or hospital test

please take a look at the OAT test and there comp stool test DO BOTH and see for yourself

please no bashing unless you have tried or done this.. look at the sample reports you see they show you all the markers and what they mean... you may have many things going on -- both these tests look at BACTERIA and YEAST in better detail
