Hi Folks,
As I stood in line at the polls today I was thinking of all of you US Crohnnies out there. I've been struggling with GI stuff the past few weeks...GERD and nausea and boomeranging between D and C. I have an appointment next week with my GI...I don't think it's anything terrible....I just go through these funky times now and then....I'm sure many can relate. Anyway, I stood outside in the cold for about 45 minutes before getting to the indoor line. The whole process took about 1 1/2 hours, which isn't too bad compared with a lot of places. I wasn't feeling great though....didn't know where the bathrooms were located (always a concern), wondering if I'd lose my place in line if I had to go to the bathroom and then start all over again, etc. I got thinking about how our illness is often so invisible....I just looked like an ordinary voter, and I was making up fictional stories about the other peoples' lives who were in line, just to entertain myself. Anyway, I got through it ok and I hope all of you did too. I think it's going to be a late night. We don't need to make this a political discussion.....I just hope that all of you were able to get out there and vote too!

Yeah, you're right: Crohn's is a completely invisible illness. Anyway, glad you got through it okay and trust you made the right voting decison :p

Thanks NCOT, and good luck with the Humira and Pred taper....I hope it all works out well. I don't have to work today and I feel pretty nauseous....I think I'll just snuggle in for a long night of election watching. I KNOW the I made the right decisions....it's just whether or not the rest of the country agrees with me that's the problem....just glad I live in a democracy and have a voice.

Sorry you had to wait so long Gumby! I voted early and had to wait a few minutes, and where I live it is still hot so I was glad they had us in the shade.

I've been volunteering for a campaign in one of the swing states (not where I live) and we've spent the last 3 days walking the neighborhoods to get out the vote. We're in a neighborhood that's friendly to the campaign I support so it's very invigorating to see everyone smiling about our effort. My feet are sore and I feel good to be able to help in this way.

Good for you Kazbern. I volunteered in 2008, but didn't have the energy this year. It's going to be a long night!

i know what you mean. i told myself if there was a long line, i was just gonna go home- i'm flaring and also have horrendous hives. luckily, i was in and out in 5 minutes, but it sucks that i would consider not voting because of UC.

In Oregon we don't have polls, all our voting is done by mail or dropping your ballot off at a box so we are lucky in the fact we do not have to wait in line, I saw on the news they said there were a thousand people in line at one place, that would give me way to much anxiety, then be looking for a bathroom!

I was alittle concerned as my immune system is suppressed right now and my polling place is a senior living facility. Afraid I might add up the potential germs with that and a large group of people. Fortunately, we were able to by pass the long line as we are just one street far enough to be in a separate polling line. We waited 3 people instead of 53! I was worried with my recent flare about having the giddy up go enough to stand in line....glad I made it and voted!

I voted early, there was no wait. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes!
