Firstly thanks to everyone who contributes to this form, while I don't post regularly it's a daily habit to come here and read posts and feel comforted that I'm not alone in the pain, uncertainty, drugs and examiniations we have to go through.
It is re examinations that I write. Has anyone had an anal untrasound? I am not unduly worried about the prospect but more intrigued as the hospital I am under is trialling a new machine for a month and mentioned ultrasound and MRI imagery to be done at the same time? Perhaps I misunderstood but what ever the outcome they are certainly excited at having the machine on site so it does seem like its something new....well for my hospital at least.
I have been diagnosed with crohns since 1999, having a right hemicolectomy soon after with perianal fistula's being the literal pain the bum for the majority of years since. After remicade these successfully healed and for the last two years I have been so lucky with hardly any crohns activity at all. Unfortunately my luck has run out, constant UTI's, gas and discharge from my vagina, accute abdominal pain, waves of cramp when I eat, weight loss, noises like a concrete mixer - all the symptoms of crohns being active but every tick in the box for a bowel/bladder fistula too. While an MRI in August initially proved inconclusive for a fistula, a radiologist has since looked at the imagery in fine detail and there is an subtle abnormality in my anal canal.
Hence the up to date news of having the ultrasound. Any experiences gratefully received - and for those who have had bladder fisula's. is remicade suitable for this too?
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hugs to you all.
