Before I got diagnosed with crohn's I would have abdominal pain that would get very very severe every 2 months or so, and it would get as close as 4-6 weeks between attacks. These spouts of pain would last about 8-12 hours and then go away by itself.
During these attacks I initially started to eat small portions of food to try and sooth my stomach, but it would end up with me vomiting, so after a couple attempts of that I stopped eating during the attacks. Even without eating I get very nauseated but maybe 25% of the time still vomit (or dry heave.)
Long story short I thought after getting dx with Crohn's that this was the cause and that it would go away, but I am still having these although not as consistent I think, since my cramping and other abdominal pains are there as well, but these major attacks are still happening every once in a while. The last one I had taken my max f Vicodin and had a heat pad and it was still overwhelming. I went to the ER in a chair and throwing up all over the place, and within the hour I had waited the pain had started to cease, so I just left.
Although I do plan on talking to my GI about this I have always wondered what this may be. I always thought it may be an obstruction or maybe even intestinal narrowing or something to that effect. The only real factor I have felt besides the extreme pain and nausea is when I did eat, the food never seemed digested fully, and maybe once when I had Vicodin previously, it felt as f it had no effect for a long time, like it was delayed for almost an hour.
Any thoughts?
