Back from the GI appt. Dr is putting me on budesnide 2x day. Ordered blood work and stool testing, having a cat scan done, possible radiology scan, and checking on my gallbladder too. Said something about me taking antibodics due to my infection in my gums eating away the teeth/bone might have effected me too? Anyone else on budesnide?

Antibiotics are killers for people with IBD. Sometimes you just have to take them, though, and suffer the consequences. Sorry. Eat yogurt with live cultures and/or take probiotics to replenish the gut flora when you take antibiotics.

Budesonide is a good medication for Crohn's but it is not forever. Hopefully it will help you feel better pretty quickly. Talk to your DR about your maintenance plan.

I'm on Entocort (budesonide) 6mg/day. I have been on it for a year now and my GI assures me that he got other patients who hve been on it for years. I don't have the option of changing it at the time being. For me, it's a life saver. It kicked quickly in and kept my intestinal pain at bay.

Antibiotics can also cause c. diff., which is a killer if you have CD. Don't just eat yogurt but also take a probiotic like VSL #3 that has live cultures.
