Hi.
I'm in 10th grade, used to have remicade, stopped working, so was put on cimzia. Cimzia helps but not enough. It's better than going with no medicine at all but still I get pains. I have a checkup with the gi doctor in early january. Christmas break is comming up. The only break I will get for a long time. It is 2 weeks long. And I was thinking, since I am still pretty short and skinny, I could just drink nutritional drinks for 2 weeks, maybe 3? I only want to do it during christmas break because it would just be kind of weird not eating during school at lunch. Only my close friends know that I have crohns And I don't want to explain myself to 100 kids. I know, I still could ignore them, but I just don't want to take that route.
Anyway, usually these diets are 6 weeks, right? Is there even a point to do it for 2 or 3 weeks only? It would help me to feel better until my checkup and My medecine is changed or whatever is going to happen, But do you think I would be able to put on some pounds and maybe help growth in 2 or 3 weeks? And maybe help my crohns in general by giving it a break and maybe after I start eating again It wouldn't hurt as much or possibly even not at all? The ensure chocolate drinks kind of give me a stomach ache If I drink them and eat, But I do know from experience that after a few days they don't bother me because there is no solids going through me anymore.
If I did go the ensure plus way, how many would I have to drink a day? their 350 cals each, the average diet is 2000 cals a day, so thats about 6 drinks a day. Is that about how many I would need to gain weight? Would I have to do even more than that? or less? I'm kind of new to this, so If I was going to do it, what would you reccomend? You can reccomend a different product if it is easy to get.
And do you think If I actually did this for a full 6 weeks it could put me into remmission for a year or two maybe even? If I had to do this for 6 weeks every 2 years or so, I'd rather do it then get injected with medecine and take pills every month.
Sorry it's so long, but anyway, try to help/fill me in.
thanks!
