Adam,
As previously mentioned, you've recieved some good advice here. There's alot of experience on this forum. It's a valuable rescource. Please keep posting, asking for opinions, and getting help with decisions.
There are two predominant schools of thought. One is to hold surgery at bay for as long as possible. The other is, that many have enjoyed long, some very long remissions after opting for surgery.
Before you make the best decision for you, you might want to get as many diagnostics as you can. Along with a colonoscopy, perhaps an MRE, SBFT, or pillcam.
Then you'll need the opinions of your GI and a surgeon. After all of that, I think you can make the best decision for you.
Also, I'm sure many here will remind you, that even though you can feel good for long periods, or even if you're willing to put up with your current status with this disease, the disease may or may not be progressing. You certainly would not want to face some of the complications that this disease can present. Hopefully, your maybe on the mild side, and can get by with less severe medications. Again, the diagnostics will tell you what you need to know.
Good luck with your decision.
