Itchy Ankles and Ankle Sores
I Would Like To Comment On The "Itchy Ankles" Articles.
As a natural health practitioner who specialises in treating Parkinson and MS patients I often come across PD patients who suffer from itchy ankles and huge sores resulting from that itchyness.
Some PD patients are so afflicted that they scratch so badly during the night, they draw blood regularly. Some of the comments on the chat page report that they itch mostly at night and have the redness after a shower. One comment from a resident of California was that he does not get the itchyness when in California but does get it when he goes back to his hometown in a different climate. Another commented how cold weather makes the itchyness worse. One person commented that he/she had heard that it had something to do with the liver.
My Response To These Comments Is This:-
It is my opinion that this itchyness is caused by excessive tension in the smooth muscles inside the lower torso strangling certain areas of the stomach, and that area includes the liver, and often causes problems in one, or both kidneys. This tension also squashes nerves to weaken nerve signals to the ankles, to weaken blood flow which in turn, causes the end result.
This itchyness and little red sores can be likened to the itchyness and bed sores hospital patients will get on their back if they lay on their back without moving for days on end. The back muscles are squashed, nerve activity in the back is reduced, and as a result, blood flow is reduced and hence, itchyness and bed sores on the back.
When this lower torso tension becomes severe enough, it restricts blood flow into the ankles and feet, to cause much the same itchyness and bed sore problem associated with staying still when laying in bed for days on end.
The reason you notice this itchyness and little red sores mostly at night, and when you have been sleeping, is not because you have been laying in bed, but because at night, you are no longer using your legs alot, to force blood to flow down into your legs. This is why your ankle itchyness will fade away and sometime not be there at all when you are active walking around at work or doing things around the house during the day, because your mobility increases blood flow to your ankles and feet.
That excess stomach tension is a gradually developing tension caused by going through a progression of stressful life events due to the absence of effective stress management skills and perhaps, a poor personality response stress. Please consider that not talking things out enough to get good problem solving advice from friends and family, just may be a part of this tension buildup.
This excess tension buildup causes the stomach and small intestine to have difficulty firstly digesting, and then absorbing the foods consumed at mealtime, and usually we consume foods that are harder to digest and absorb, at our evening meal, which is the second reason why the itchyness is more common at night. The evening meal food that is not broken down properly, also makes the blood thicker, which adds to the problem of poor blood flow down into the ankles.
My Advice:-
Three things you can do to stop the itchyness:-
1) Consume only water, fruits and vegetables for five days. This will take alot of waste out of your blood and thin your blood back to a normal healthy viscosity rating. (Seek professional advice on doing this if you are on a pharmaceutical blood thinner, like Warfarin, or a herbal blood thinner, like Ginko Biloba...)
2) After that five days of clensing, eliminate all foods that are difficult to digest, from your evening meal. In particular, try to avoid having red meat, eggs and dairy, with your evening meal. (If you like red meat and eggs, have them for breakfast when your stomach acids are high to break them down easier and you are going to walking around alot to encourage good blood flow down to your ankles.)
3) Last but not least, do situps, kneeups, side bends, squats and calf raise to help circulation into your lower torso and legs.
4) Do deep breathing exercises before bed to improve lung expansion capabilities and to raise your blood oxygen saturation before trying to sleep because when your blood is high in oxygen, there is a less chance of itchyness.
5)Make sure you improve your relaxation skills. Don't work, worry or do stressful things in the twilight hours before bed. Those three hours of winddown time, should be used for just that. Winding down and letting go of all the thesion you gained by living out in this stressful world we live in.
If anybody would like to ask questions I will try to answer, however, if I take a while, it will be because I already receive around 50 to 60 emails a day and often get very busy.
Good luck and I hope my input helps.
