extra meds ( humira) what to do hypothetically of course.

ok hypothetically speaking if someone had 6 leftover auto syringes of 40mg humira, and the pharmacy wont take them back and they were to offer them for free to someone who needed them and they were good for about another year, and such and this person was never going to start taking it again so wants to pass on his/her good fortune.   where would this person send them in a ice packed container for the cost of shipping?  and if anyone would even be interested would they let this person know by email?  hypothetically of course ;o) smilewinkgrin

Hey Randy, When I came off Humira I had 2 left. I was told buy my GI doctor to empty the pens because safety concerns.

I'm afraid I cannot hypothetically answer you <_<. But when I had 4 leftover syringes of Humira, the pharmacy took them back - I'm a bit surprised yours won't. I would rather have given the Humira to somebody who needed it, though, since all the pharmacy will do is dispose of the med: they won't re-use it if it's been returned.

I think I have 6 pens left - tried to find somewhere to take them for 12 months. Needless to say they're now out of date and completely useless. I last week asked a pharmacy that we assumed was going to be collecting sharps from my step dad (he just started some testosterone injections at home) and we were told to just put them in an empty bleach bottle and put them out with the rubbish.....


Needless to say I am not going to do this, they're still sat in my fridge n will be until a pharmacy agrees to dispose of them correctly!

What a bloody waste of money!!

i also tried to get my pharmacy to take mine back. i just ended up throwing them away.

yeah I know what must be done hypothetically, I was just hoping some near by could use 6k worth of meds.. ya know? hypothetically of course..;o)

Hypothetically, is there a local CCFA support group you could contact? I just met with mine and I am thinking some of them could have used this at one point.  Parenthetically-this is very nice of you to be so hypothetically generous.

Oh Randy.....You know I am obligated to tell you that what you are hypothetically proposing is illegal in the USA. You should just dispose of them with your other sharps. I should delete this message but think I will leave it as a reminder to other hypothetically generous people that it is against federal law to give prescription medications to others.
