So I saw a new GI today because I'm kind of losing faith in the other doc, he's doing another colonoscopy and ordered some blood work (which I'm really happy about because the other doc NEVER ordered blood work). Unfortunately the colonoscopy is going to ruin my long weekend since Monday I'll be doing the prep.
Anyway, he told me since the 20mg pred hasn't done anything for met yet after 5 days, just stop taking it and wait for blood work results and the scope before deciding what to do. Just told me to stay on Asacol and told me to give VSL#3 a try.
I asked him if he really wants me to quit the pred cold turkey and he said at that low of a dose and just being on it for 5 days it doesn't matter, just cut it off. I like this GI a lot better so far, he seemed way more communicative and has a much more structured approach to diagnosing me and finding a treatment. But cutting off pred goes against everything I've ever read about it, what do you guys think? 20mg for 5 days should be cool to just cut off completely?
