Hi,
I have been recently diagnosed with CD as of May 2013. My gastro doctor is having be start Remicade (SP) infusions in the next couple of weeks. Any tips? Advice? Motivation?

Katelynn Rose, welcome to the forum and best wishes with your treatment plan. Many GIs start with remicade because it is an extremely effective medication, especially for more aggressive cases.

Hi and Welcome to HealingWell, I used to be on Remicade over 10
years and go. It was the first med to put me into remission. I hope all goes well when you start Remicade good luck.

All the stuff about
Remicade is a lot to handle don't get all uptight about
it. Bring something to read, depending on where you go to get the infusion, office , hospital you may want to bring a sweater if you get cold. there is something called remistart . This stuff is expensive even with insurance. your parents may be very interested in it. I took Remicade for 13 months It made me feel a lot better until my body said no more. Everybody reacts very different to the disease and the biologic drugs. Back to getting the infusion. Some people get tired afterwards and need sleep. I slept but I worked nights then. There are some great people with lots of knowledge about
the treatments. Like I said everyone is different read and ask questions. Ask your doctor questions. a typical schedule might be first infusion 4 weeks second infusion then 8 weeks apart. Know this you will be able to tell when the stuff is wearing off before the next infusion. I went to 7 weeks then 6 weeks. Communicate with your DR. Almost forgot, if you use tech toys ask if they have
WIFI it helps the time go by.

I've been on it for about
4 years. Drink plenty the day before so that your veins are easier to access. Mine are small and they roll so I ended up getting a port-a-cath, but most people don't need to take that step. If your legs get twitchy after the pre-meds, ask them to run the benadryl in more slowly next time.
Good luck and I hope you go into remission.
