Hi All,
I am currently looking to travel abroad again. I went to Ecuador and Peru early 2012 before my fistuala and partial bloackage later in the year which resulted with me on Remicade. Before when I travelled I would bring my regular med (which at the time were not much) a back up of cipro and flagyl and entacort for possible problems on route under the advisory of my GI. I traveled then with no problems for 5 weeks, felt the best i have in a long time.
Present day. I am on remicade every 8 weeks. I am looking at traveling from Beijing to Bangkok for 62 days. I would like a possible extension at the beginning in Russia for 21. So far I am not banking on that as with the 62 day tour my GI asssured me we can tweak my scheduling to get me a dose before I go and one when I get back. I am in contact with my bio advance coordinator about possible infusions abroad so I can travel for the full trip, but they are painfully slow in being able to find me answers, as I guess regular travel and not in one spot isn't too common.
Also I am a Canadian residing in Alberta currently receiving benefits through Govt of cananda and AB blue Cross. Just wondering if anyone out there has experience traveling abroad while on remicade, clinics abroad canadians can access? etc... In addition to this More than likely I may still have my seton, which I am not too worried about as I will avoid pools, lakes etc.. But just looking for some all around advice for travel as this is longer than my last... also any insurance companies that will underwrite someone with a pre existing condition?
Thanks so much in advance...
