long story short, 3 rectal surgeries in 15 months, last one ended in a seton placement. the rubber kind on 5/24 so just over 3 weeks, still have some pain, mostly nerve pain on the side where the external opening of the fistula is.
i am lethargic an depressed, i was able to pass gas for about a week after placement, now i am back to little to zero flatulence, i spend at least 90 mins a day on the toilet in the morning, some days are better than others, throughout the day i have almost a constant feeling of needing to go, rush to the bathroom, and nothing, not even gas. my periods have become painful and long, from 30 days in December to 38 days last month, on cycle day 32 now, still no sign of menstruation. lots of lower back pain, and what i affectionately call " ass cramps " the only thing i can liken it to, is a lightening bolt, quick and fierce flash of pain.
the sutures that hold the two rubber pieces together, press up against the external opening, i rotate it, to keep them away, but they always manage to butt right back up to the wound. (no pun intended) i can't get anything done, i sit and watch while my husband plays with my daughter in the park, wishing i could be out there too, not sitting on a pillow atop a picnic table. :(
i was told by one surgeon, who probably shouldn't have operated on me, at a post op appointment, that the surgery had cause a defect in my bowel. but i am not exactly sure what that means, i was told i have no signs of chrones, besides hidradentis, which apparently is the culprit of my fine fistula. i go back to the University of Michigan this coming Thursday the 20th of June, but at the moment, i am just in a sick cycle of self deprecation and depression. could there be something else, beyond the fistula what would cause me so much discomfort? 3 weeks out i thought i would be feeling much better, but all this has culminated into a perfect storm that keeps me in bed. help!!!
