Well it is a pretty small risk 74monte. Even with the combined meds it's still very small. Alone I believe it's 4 out of every 10,000, combined it's 6 out of every 10,000. Regular population is 2 out of every 10,000. Wouldn't say that's downplaying it. The most at risk is young men I believe. Not treating it comes with a risk of cancer as well. Just having Crohn's increases our risks, and I wonder how many people would have gotten cancers anyway regardless of the medications. But considering how I thought I was doing okay with a flare or two a year (treating with Asacol only and prednisone during the flares), only to see I had a lot of damage going on inside, I'd never want to go off of maintenance meds. I think for the most part that small risk is worth it.
