Anyone in ATL--need to know time airport to Lilburn area & if it is a potty expressway

The antibiotics are definitely overpowering my cholestyramine....been sprinting to the potty a lot.  Expect to be flying to Atlanta within the next week and will driv eup North.  I have the internet map time estimate---but want a reality check from someone that actually drives around there.

Dad's brother passed away last night (we lost Dad 5/29).  I am really in a deep sadness and had a major insult at work at the end of last week.  I just don't think I can handle a potty incident on top of everything else....

Oh Habs, I'm so sorry about your uncle's passing so soon after your dad. It has been such a stressful time for you!!! I don't have any advice about Atlanta....just wanted so send condolences. Hang in there and bring a carry on with a clothes change. (I'm sure you already knew that:)

I-85 from the airport to Lilburn. Ideally, you'd be looking at 35-40 minutes, but the I-85 can be hell in Atlanta's very long rush hours. I-85 is like any other highway through a major city: you won't find potty places along the highway, but you can find gas stations and fast food restaurants off many of the exits.

From my experience during hurricane evacuations (where a trip from New Orleans to Atlanta, normally 7 hours door to door, took me 30 hours of driving time): bring a change of clothes, some wet wipes, and an empty tupperware container with a lid. It's humiliating--but you'll be prepared for anything.

Actually, I think from the airport to Lilburn your looking at 50-60 minutes and that's in good traffic. If traffic is bad, plan on over an hour for sure. Traffic is usually the worst in the early morning until 9am. and then picks up again around 4-7pm. I lived near Lilburn for 5 years and have traveled that route many times. Just travel prepared and there are plenty of exits if you find yourself needing a restroom.

So sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much for the kindness you all have given me.  My sister and I ahve decided to drive all the way to Atlanta as the flights would be about $700-$1000.  It will be a long drive (15 hours for hubby and I not including stopping), but at least we have control over stopping for breaks.  My sister has UC so this should be a super road trip for our husbands.

I am literally at the end of my sadness rope.  But, I am trying very hard to stay out of "my dark place".  My husband keeps trying to find positives for me and has been a positive all on his own.  Sad as it is-these things come in threes should mean I am done (I lost my 53 year old brother-in-law a few months ago, my Dad a few weeks ago and my uncle this week).  I am going to try and focus on the good memories, the future Hawaii trip we have planned and try to heal my gut.

I'm in Atlanta. Try to avoid the city and 40 miles on each side during rush hour. For us that is 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm (ish), unless it's Friday, then rush hour can start closer to 2:30pm. Also, there is construction (re-paving) on 285 Atlanta bypass on the weekends, which is causing larger back ups on 75/85 Interstates through the city too.

There are close together exits all thru the city if you have to stop.
