Anyone else run fevers, but do not register on thermometer

I tried to explain to my GI that I am getting the flushing and mini fevers again since I stopped taking the antibiotic.  Every doc always says "Did you check your temperature".  Well I do, but it does not show.  But I am very low normal temp anyway and these just don't push me over the 99-100 mark.  My forehead is hot to the touch, often my face turns fire engine red and feels hot.  The rest of my external body stays its normal temp.  But I feel really lousy & exhausted when these happen.  And they happen throughout the day.

Last time I was in the hospital, the ER doc (whom I admittedly had no respect for) actually admitted that he saw this in me.  They took my temp and it was low normal for the average person, but I was burning up on my head (and ewwww in my rectal area).  The IV antibiotics took it right down.

Sorry to be so grumpy lately and whiny...just tired of dealing with all of these daily things and want to feel good for a day again.

Yea. Ive had this ever since i got c diff in january. I will check my temp and its like 97.5 but im dying of heat. I call it severe heat intolerance because im not technically in the fever range.

Kind of, yeah. Sometimes I would take my temperature, feeling crappy in a low-grade fever kind of way, and it would only be 37.0C (98.6F) or very slightly more. However, some evenings I would have a significantly raised temperature; it was very variable.

I was never sure if those 'normal' temperatures represented a low-grade fever for me, but I know I always felt more comfortable when my body temperature was half a degree lower, eg 36.6C

a random, slightly related tidbit from personal experience: if you're using a battery-powered thermometer at home, the thermometer may display a lower temperature if the batteries are old/dying.

So if you're checking your temp at home, this could be part of the issue. (It was for me....we had a home thermometer putting my temp at 96F, which my husband refused to believe. He ran out to the drugstore and purchased a new thermometer, which read my temp as 101F)

Holy crap, that's a big difference.

I still feel slightly nostalgic for our old mercury thermometer. I did actually used to use that as well and probably would still be using it to this day if it hadn't stopped working.

I had one ER visit where I checked in w/97.6 orally but about 20 minutes later for whatever reason I'll never know the ER doc ordered a rectal temp (which caught me by surprise!!!). The rectal temp was 103.? That really flabbergasted me!

I have had similar issues ever since I've become anemic. My "normal" on the battery thermometer is about 96.5 and when I register 98.6 I feel like I have a fever. I miss my mercury thermometer too! Sometimes I think I really do have low grade fevers (around 99.5 F) but other times I just get chilled or overheat from feeling ill. And it is a different sensation from my menopausal hot flashes:)

This happens to me a lot. Me too my normal temp is 36.5. When I stay for more than 2 weeks at 37.5, my GI considers this to be fever which we have to deal with, where my mum and GP would tell me it's just half a grade and won't do anything. But when it reaches 38.5, I have to take antibiotics. I was accusing Imuran of causing me this but it seems I'm not alone. I use the mercury thermometer, too.

Wow I used to just think I was being a baby lol. I can feel like I have a fever n only register 36.9 C lol makes me feel better to know im not alone!

I have the same way - I'll feel really hot and flushed, but the thermometer will be around 97.7 to 98.6, whereas when I feel healthy and normal, it's 96.5 or so.
