Sores and small bumps that hurt and itchy on my ankles and fingers. Is this part of crohn's ?

So for about the past 10 days I have been putting cortisone cream on these thinking I had chigger or some other bug bite as I did weed the garden some. But they then started popping up on my fingers. Not a lot but some more tonight. I have tried to research but not sure if this is the crohn's in a new form for me. Any ideas?

Or could it be shingles? I have had shingles before and I have tested positive for chicken pox although my mother said I did not have it when I was little. Given it has been over 10 days since gardening I am doubting it is bug bites since I am getting new ones popping up. They hurt, are hard and itch.

Thoughts?

Definitely see your doctor. I've had similar spots, i think- when i was in the hospital i got some on my feet and legs and I thought they were from laying on the bed and my foot resting on the frame (world designed for short people!), but when i showed my doctors they said it was another crohn's symptom. They've showed up before and after, but i always just attributed them to other stuff.

anyway, for me, they're a patch of swollen, sore and tender skin, usually no bigger than a quarter. any contact hurts. they go away when i start feeling better.

I have an appointment for my follow up on Monday, July 28th. I am trying to hold out till then. I know he is not there next week and if I get in today I will just see a PA. not a bad thing, but the PA just does not know all my complications. will keep you updated

Mine are all very small but hard bumps, not bigger than the round head of a straight pin. I have had these before, like Bane points out I have never thought about it being part of crohn's. but this time it is much more difficult for them to go away.

I get a bunch of skin related things. If you really have to hold out over a week, you might want to try the antihistamine recommendation I had for swelling and burning. It also helped me with a rash another time. OTC Pepcid and Claritan taking together through the day. Apparently one is antihistamine A and one is B so the combinationis supposed to help more.

I would really mention this to your doc...these extra intestinal bits can be elusive!
