Colonoscopy done but very frustrated

Wait for the biopsies. It is a pretty common experience to be frustrated by the scope.

I don't know about the barium follow-through. That's not really diagnostic since there isn't a biopsy. Same is true for the pill-cam though, which is a more informative follow-up after a scope.

I had a C scope and G scope, biopsies came back normal however they saw inflammation so decided to do a capsule endocsopy (at another hospital) which came back with " nothing definitive, cannot diagnose as crohns" . They finally decided to put me on Entocort although I still need more biopsies done of small bowel. They will have to do the enteroscopy next time i have a flare up to biopsy small intestine.

Hang in there. After all of that and they have yet to have a firm diagnisis, it is very frustrating.

Try to hang in there until you get the biopsies. I'm waiting for my results. I've had confirmed Crohn's in 2007, but I've been anemic the past several months, and my pill cam looked perfect, and my most recent colonoscopy showed only minimal inflammation in my terminal ileum, so they don't have a good reason for my current anemia. It can be very frustrating because Crohn's flares come and go and scopes look different each time they do them. Sometimes the biopsies will show microscopic indications, so try to be patient. I'm getting quite aggravated myself at the moment!

On my first colonoscopy they saw some inflammation in my TI. But my biopsies were "inconclusive". I remember being so frustrated too, because my GI at the time was not willing to say what it was one way or another. Sadly it's pretty common for them to not find things on a scope.

I got lucky during this last one (if you could call it that). It was the only time I was praying they'd find LOTS of evidence of it. Gotta be careful what you wish for though, I ended up having bad disease all over my colon and TI. I actually cried when my new and much better GI came in and said without a doubt it was Crohn's. And this time the biopsies agreed! It was so nice to finally hear what I already knew for over 15 year!

But my point is that getting diagnosed can be a long frustrating road. You just have to hang in there, it will eventually rear it's ugly head enough for them to know what it is for sure.
