Well I had my colonoscopy yesterday(my Dr. decided to scope me due to a new fistula that I noticed and was confirmed on MRI). From the time I scheduled the colonoscopy I also started on cipro and flagyl, which seemed to stop he fistula drainage. Four days before my scope I noticed a hole(or what looks like a hole) on my labia minora near my vaginal opening; and I feared it was another fistula.
Well my colonoscopy came back yesterday with no sign of active disease. I'm obviously very happy to hear this but very confused as to why a fistula can form without active disease. My GI looked at my vaginal potential fistula after the scope but I can't remember what he said other than call the office in two days(I was still pretty sedated). So I will call tomorrow to discuss with him, but in the meantime can someone explain how you can develop a new fistula without active disease? I'm feeling like a hypochondriac and if the fistula wasn't confirmed on MRI I would think I made this whole thing up! Help!
