Alternating dose of imuran?

Imuran does cause me to lose hair. I talked to my GI about it and he said I could alternate dose 75mg/100mg every other day to see what happens. More I think about it, this seems like it would be a bad idea? Wouldn't my body be confused by increase and decrease constantly of the medicine?

my doctor recommended I do 50mg/75mg alternating days. I think it makes sense since I developed liver problems when it was at a constant higher dose.

Hello, You could talk to your GI about taking folic acid for the hair
lose.

The hair loss is temporary. It resolves itself. I've been on 100 mg Imuran Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 75 mg of Imuran on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays for .... I'm not even sure how many years now. 8 or 9 years I think. Possibly a year or two longer.

Are you doing ok with alternating the dosage? I've never heard of that, I'm learning something new.

I'm currently on 150 mg and have some hair loss too. Which is tragic to me because I have long hair. But it gives me remission and I'm grateful it does.

Oh, yeah. I"m doing fine w/the alternating dosage (I wouldn't still be on it this long if it wasn't working for me). I also take Pentasa and I've been in remission or symptomatic remission all this while (knock, Knock, KNOCK).

We started alternating the dosage due to the weight dosing and my response/hepatic toxicity response via Prometheus test. (Haven't used the Prometheus test in years since we arrived at this dosage and its success).

Have you tried Rogaine? Walmart has a generic version.(20 bucks)
I have no idea how it works for Imuran but that is why I bought it.

Only been 2 days, so nothing to report yet...
