Does anyone else just feel terrible after doing their Cimzia injection?
I do the injections at bedtime and wake up the next morning feeling weak with sore muscles and can barely manage to get out of bed. The symptoms slowly fade away and I usually get 2-3 good days before its time for another injection (2weeks).
I have been on Cimzia in the past for about a year leading up to my first resection. I didn't follow my doctors advice and avoided getting back on meds after surgery. I don't tolerate meds well and get infections when on immune suppressants. I had a gut infection after surgery which almost killed me. I was in pain every day for six years before the surgery and after a long recovery I thought my problem had been solved. The pain has always been my problem although I do have occasional flares. I had six good months of feeling normal again and now the pain (lower r quad) is back. The colonoscopy showed lesions throughout my intestines so here I am back on Cimzia. I'm so upset to be going back down this road.
I don't have many other options as I have tried most of the major meds. I was on Remicade for two years and it worked at first but I had the same issues with fatigue. It gradually got so bad I couldn't drive myself home after infusion and would spend the days after in bed. I then tried Humira which gave me very sever headaches. My doctor believes I need to be on a biologic possibly with additional meds. My doctor doesn't seem to concerned about the fatigue. He says all my blood work comes back fine and its uncommon for people to feel it the way I do. I just wonder if its worth all the side effects for something that doesn't help the pain? I feel like the Cimzia does more harm than good. Has anyone experienced this extreme fatigue? Any advice would be appreciated.
