I had previously posted in this forum about my seton stitch having fell off.
Since this happened I contacted my surgeon consultant and they told me not to worry too much and just meet them in the follow up appointment. This I did this morning.
The surgeon told me that the seton stitch was expected to fall off. The doctor that had talked to me before the surgery told me that the fistula was deep and therefore he was predicting that the seton stitch would be kept in there for a long time. Apparently the test that was performed prior to the operation suggested that the fistula is not actually that deep, and therefore the seton placed was not intended to stay for long: the surgeon who talked to me this morning described it as a "superficial seton stitch"
After a week that the seton stitch fell off on its own, I still feel some itching around the area, some burning sensation when I make a bowel movement, also a funny feeling, kinda similar to the pain I used to feel when pus would be forming (under the scar that I have from all the perianal abscess incision surgeries that I had to undergo). The surgeon described the cavity as a hole that is growing back on its own, and he said that I should worry about it filling up with pus and another abscess forming, however as always, he reminded me that this is still possible. He examined me and mentioned that the incision they put has healed, and that I should be okay, but still should be taking the stool softeners to avoid passing hard stool.
I am actually writing this thread not to ask a question, but rather to update you all on my current condition. He said I'm able to start training again, and hopefully the problem never comes back. Thanks for the help all along and any ideas or suggestions of what else to do to prevent from the abscesses to come back again would be very much appreciated! (I had 5 in all!)
