scope induced flares

I have a colonoscopy scheduled for next week, and I'm getting very anxious. Two years ago after my last scope, I wound up in the hospital from a flare. So I'm worried the scope will cause another flare for me. I know this happens for some of you. Is there a way to prevent a scope from causing a flare?

My Crohn's was in remission long before they started doing colonoscopies. The sigmoidoscopes were all they had back then.

I had my resection in early 1978 and didn't have my first colonoscopy until 1998 or so.

I doubt the scope itself would cause a flare - but I'm not so sure about the prep. I rather worried about that myself which gave me all the incentive - and more - to be sure to drink lots, and Lots and LOTS of clear liquids after downing the prep to rinse the prep irritant outta my gut ASAP. I don't know that there was/is any basis for my thoughts on this, it was/is just my line of thinking, for what it is worth.
