Anyone that has taken Remicade while pregnant? Im 5 weeks and ill be 7 for my next infusion. Is it safe?

It is, but it is best to discuss all this with your GI and OB. Make sure they are on the same page regarding your pregnancy and Crohn's treatment. I took Humira while pregnant, but there are many women on this board that have been on Remicade while pregnant, hopefully they will come along and share their stories. General rule of thumb with CD and pregnancy is to keep your Crohn's under control first and foremost, as a flare can be dangerous. Good luck!

Please visit infantrisk.org for more information on the drugs prescribed for Crohn's and the issues during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. Remicade is very safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but there is a window of time as you approach childbirth that you will need to plan around. Your GI and your OB/Gyn should be able to work out the details with you as a team.

Yes, it is. You shouldn't have an infusion after 32 weeks, though. I had to have a c-section because I have a recto-vaginal fistula, and we timed it so I had the c-section at 37 weeks and I had the infusion the next day while still at the hospital.

I have two remicade babies. Remicade doesn't cross the placenta until between 30-32 weeks in the pregnancy. Your OB will most likely refer you to a maternal/fetal medicine specialist, but remicade is pretty safe. My two remi babies are now 9 & 7 and healthy, smart, and doing great. No negative effects at all.
