Remicade and Whooping cough vaccine

Hi all,

My sister just had baby and wants me to get the Whooping cough vaccine.  Has anyone had this who has been on Remicade at the same time?

You can check if the vaccine is a live virus or a dead one. If it is a dead virus there should be no issue with getting the vaccine.

Frankly I'd be more worried about your health than your sister is about her baby's health. If your new niece/nephew is in daycare you should not touch the baby unless you plan to wash your hands diligently afterward. As a parent myself, I can tell you that small children are virus factories and spread the wealth far and wide.

Now we have the Tdap and it's a dead virus vaccine.

Tdap is a tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine given to adolescents and adults as a one-time shot, or after exposure to tetanus under some circumstances. This is in place of one of the Td shots you would get every ten years.

Thanks so much for the replies.  I am OCD and wash my hands all the time anyways.  I always have wet wipes with me too!  Thanks again.

I am on Simponi, an anti-TNF like Remicade, and I got the Tdap. There was a large outbreak of whooping cough in our state and my rheumy thought it would be a good idea.
