prednisone when is it too long?

I have had this rash on my inner thighs that doctors can't figure out what is causing it. I have tried everything from antibiotics, creams, anti-fungles, and prednisone. Prednisone is the only thing that helps it but as soon as i am off the rash comes back. I have seen a number of doctors and all they are doing is putting me back on the prednisone. I have been on it since the middle of May and the doctor just put me back on it again for another 2 months today (got off of it 2 weeks ago). I am getting frustrated because I am concerned about long term effects but the doctors are just putting me back on pred. I guess I just really need to vent.

When is it considered long term use for prednisone?

I believe that at the 4-month mark is when serious side effects occur, but do not take my word on that. All the prednisone is doing for that rash is stopping the inflammation, not fixing the problem. I'm surprised that hydrocortisone cream wasn't good enough for that rash. Do you believe it is connected to the Crohn's? Or is it a different issue? Have you seen a dermatologist?

BTW, "anti-fungles" made me giggle.

I have seen about 4 different deems, 3 GI's and 2 GP's. The rash doesn't fall into any normal rash category. One derm thinks it is crowns related some think it is remicade related some think it is neither. I am just getting frustrated because I am beginning to feel like none of the doctors care much about my long term health.

I have been using prednisone for 9 months. Have never had any side affects. My GI is trying to taper me off. When I first started them I was taking 60mg. Started tapering off and got down to 20mg. Horrible cramping started again. Back up to 60mg. Have been going back and forth all summer. With this taper I am right now taking 15mg and haven't had any cramping. Hopefully that means I can get off of them soon.
