scifigal is absolutely correct, colds are viruses and antibiotics will not do anything for it. If you develop a fever, cough up discolored mucous, then you need to see your general practioner to be evaluated.
Do not treat yourself with prescription meds until you know what the problem is. Also, she was correct about you needing a general practioner for these types of problems. If you don't have one go to urgent care or a walk-in clinic if you must.
Also, when out in the public, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer EVERY time you touch a door handle, pen, credit card scanner, etc. Cold viruses can live on these surfaces for quite sometime.
