I had one done a few weeks ago 5days before I was supposed to have my next Remicade infusion. I'm at 5 mg/kg every 8 weeks. The test showed that I had no Remi at all in my system. So as I discuss with my GI in the next few weeks, should we be upping the dose, shortening the time between infusions, or both?

Good question. Do you feel like current dose you're getting is working? Do you notice if it kind of peter's out x number of weeks after your infusion? When my infusions were 8 weeks apart I would feel it fade out around 5 weeks. My initial thought is to up the dose to 10mg/kg and see if that holds you to the 8 week mark.

I guess I would ask the doc is there is any real difference between getting the lower dose more frequently as opposed to getting the higher dose less frequently. If it were me I'd probably go for the higher dose.

That's what I'd prefer - less money, less time having to go in, etc. Before I actually didn't really even notice symptoms returning before the next infusion, so I was surprised by these results. I can't get another yet right now anyway because the thrush is back.....stupid yeast, lol.

Geez! That horrible yeast just won't die!!! I'm sure you already know this, but avoid sugars because yeast just love it. I'm praying you can nip this in the bud once and for all!

As for the remi, I didn't even consider the cost! I would definitely go for the higher dose every 8 weeks. But also... Since you weren't noticing an increase in symptoms towards the time of your next infusion, maybe there's no need to up the dose? If you are somewhat stable then maybe it's ok to stay at the 5mg. Why take more than you need to? Unless your doctor thinks you need to. Idk, just some thoughts. Keep us posted and let us know what you decide to do and what your doctor says.

Thanks @stef. Well, I started this flare around October 23 and had a Remi infusion on Nov 1, but it didn't do anything at all to help stop the flare, which is why I stayed on pred for this bit longer. So I guess this last time I did have symptoms the week leading up to the infusion. It's just hard to say what's "real" because since I started Remi, I got c. diff. twice, had the pancreatitis problems, got pregnant, and the all this mess the last couple of months. It's been hard to establish a baseline, you know?
