So about 12 years ago I was having major issues with my IBD and constant D. Then I got some type of food poison that almost put a hole in my intestines. I was put through a series of blood work and was told that I had all the indicators for Crohn's. I was completely freaked. I went and had a sigmoidoscopy and it came back clean. The DR (Gastro) said that she was shocked in all honesty and told me it was only a matter of time before I developed CD.

When I have extreme stress I have major IBD issues..... this past week has been a major one! I also woke up out of the blue today with 2 pimple like sores at the very top of my butt crack. They hurt and itch! No other sores anywhere. NO warning. I read on another link they may be connected. Does anyone else get this type of reaction?

I guess it's time to get back into the DR and get checked again. :-(

Any advice???

By 'IBD' do you mean ulcerative colitis?

A sigmoidoscopy really isn't a good test for Crohn's, as it doesn't reach the area where Crohn's most commonly resides: the terminal ileum and caecum (start of the colon). Although if you'd had active UC, it would have spotted that.

I'm guess the blood tests were for serological markers, AKA the Prometheus test. Those results don't seem worth the paper they're written on; I wouldn't set any store by them.

I would get checked again, but ask for a colonoscopy and perhaps a CT scan as well. The pimple sores could be relevant, but I don't know I'm afraid.

I have all sorts of skin issues that I feel are related to both crohns and the Meds- prednisone for the most part.

Oh yeah and same with me on the stress part-- that's when my gut says f you to me and away we go!! I always know if I've had something happen during the day or if I get in an argument with my wife or something Thst the next morning going to see blood and have a "crapty" day!

The pimple like sores on the top of your crack could be the Herpes virus. When at the doctor ask for them to be tested.
