Did you know that there is only a corticosteroid pill that is formulated with a coating to be released in the large intestine? It is basically beudosonide like entocort is, but releases in the colon. Apparently, it was FDA approved last year, and is approved for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis.
Shockingly, I actually learned about
it by accidentally clicking on the ad with a toilet bowl in it on healingwell.
Anyway, I bet it is probably also helpful for people with crohns colitis and may help people avoid taking pred which is a lot more systemically absorbed. Another drug that may help is always welcome.
