So I wrote about a month ago that I had suspected Crohns and was in the process of going through testing. I just wanted to let you all know where I was at as I had gotten great support.
My symptoms:
Consistent diarrhea anywhere from 3-20 times a day, with it waking me in the night occasionally
Thrush in my mouth
Mouth sores
Angular Chelitis
Perianal abscess and fistula
Lip swelling
Painful stomach cramps, mostly on the right side
Nausea
occasional vomiting for no reason
Sores on legs
joint pain, mostly on legs, also in pinky finger and wrists
rashes on hands and feet after eating-no known cause
exhaustion
Weight loss0 about 40lbs since August (I was overweight to begin with so this 40lbs was partially good)
Sensitivity to: Raw Fruits and vegetables, cooked cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, corn. Fresh pork (not ham or bacon, but pork chops or pork tenderloin) beans, caffeine, coffee, milk (but not most cheeses), greasy food, pasta. All of these foods make stomach pains and diarrhea worse.
Tests done:
Blood tests: inflammation markers seen in blood tests. Low B12, low iron.
Sigmoid Scope- Looked good except another fistula found
Endoscopy and Colonoscopy- 11 biospys- Everything looked healthy- biopsys came back negative.
Next I am having an MRI or CAT scan done (whichever insurance is willing to pay for) and then the pill camera swallow to look in the rest of my intestinal tract.
My new GI seems fairly confident I have Crohns due to the mouth symptoms and the lesions on my legs as they do not appear in IBS usually. I feel good that she is working so hard, but honestly I am afraid I am going to go through all of this and be told it is IBS and just be given the Levisin that I am already on (anti-spasmodic). I do not think I am currently in a flare right now. My symptoms seem to be getting better (but this is the cycle for the last ten years). I just want to know what is wrong with me. Has anyone gone through all of this and been found without crohns? My symptoms seem very in line with the disease. Any feedback would be appreciated.
