If she has active disease and there is thickening in her intestinal wall, damage is being done. If the inflammation is left unchecked, that thickening can get so bad that nothing or very little will be able to pass in her small intestine. That can cause an obstruction that often ends up needing surgical intervention.
The Asacol is obviously not working. Your daughter needs additional/different medication. As to which one, that will be a decision made by you, your daughter and the doctor.
