Back in the hospital, this time with pancreatitis

Odd when I went home the other day my numbers were normal for my pancreas. Tuesday night I had started being in the most pain I've ever had, throwing up even worse this time. So back to being admitted.

Blood work shows pancreatitis. I guess from the imuran. I'm doing fairly better tonight, holding down liquids ok. Haven't needed pain Meds in quite some time today. Guess me and imuran don't agree?

So there goes that therapy. I still haven't tried remicade, but I'm scared to death to try anything new after this. Hate being in the hospital and hate feeling so depressed. Just want to be home and stable. Don't think I will ever feel better.

I really wish I could help more, but truth is, severe Crohn's is a nightmare when the meds don't work (or in some cases make things even worse). I don't think Remicade is likely to be a sterling success where Humira and Cimzia haven't been: they're all anti-TNFs.

All I can suggest is trying something isn't an anti-TNF, like tsyabri or stelara. The medical options for our disease absolutely suck sometimes. Have you ever discussed your surgical options? I know you have colonic disease, but maybe you could get away with a hemicolectomy, which wouldn't necessitate an ostomy.

You could try to hang on for Vedolizumab as well. I'm really sorry I can't give better advice.

I know the pain of pancreatitis! It is horrible! I hope you are feeling better today!

I also hope the Remi will be your magic bullet to stop this disease in its tracks. I am so disgusted and disheartened that many of us have such severe disease and cant access safe medications that actually work for more than a few months at a time.

Sorry to hear that you can't tolerate Imuran. That's definitely the culprit.

I would highly encourage you to consider Remicade at this point. The fears are certainly real, but the success rate with this drug is extremely high.

You will likley have to take it with another immunosuppressant though. New research is showing that combined therapy greatly lessens the risk of developing anti-bodies.

Perhap Methotrexate. It's a very common choice.
