Fever after being released

And we're now at 101.4, and I've thrown up once. My last Norco as 7 hours ago.

You have an infection. It needs to be treated. Antibiotics. You probably caught something in the hospital. So.... You can go back to the e.r. Or if you have one of those "urgent care" centers that is open on the weekends you can go and see a doc there. Since you've been discharged less than 36 hours ago, I would probably just call the e.r. Or go back. I'm so sorry. I know that's not what you want to hear, but you need to be seen.

You poor thing. I'm praying for you. Let us know what you do.

No.

It's probably a viral infection. You do not treat a viral infection with antibiotics. There is nothing you can do for a viral infection but wait it out.

Which is what I did a few weeks ago when I had the same symptoms (bad sore throat, cough, fever). No antibiotics. If it doesn't get any better in 3-4 days then I would go to a doctor to get it tested for bacterial causes.

Edit: Maybe sooner in scifigal's case. I would wait it out, but that's just me: I always wait stuff out.

For the first 2 days I had quite a high fever - about 101.8. Lemsip (a hot drink containing paracetamol and a sinus decongestant) really helped me to feel better, especially in the afternoons. By the 3rd day my fever was less and the 4th day it had gone completely. Once the fever had gone, the Lemsip stopped making any difference really; but it also didn't matter, as the worst of my tonsillitis (or whatever it was) had clearly passed.

Nearly all colds and sore throats are viral in origin. Even when they aren't, a minor bacterial infection will still usually clear up of its own accord. Antibiotics should be the treatment of last resort, not the first resort.

NCOT I have to disagree with you. The hospital is a cess pool for bacteria. The truth is neither of us knows what she has and IF it's viral, then no abx are needed. That is true. However, IF it's bacterial she will absolutely need abx. Two of the four times I was hospitalized I ended up with an infection that needed abx post discharge from the hospital. Once was the nastiest case of bronchitis ever. My biggest concern is that she just received a blood transfusion so, it's nothing to mess with.

I went to a little walgreens clinic to make sure it wasn't the flu (negative). I'm now on day 3 of this fever. I've been keeping some fluids down, and I don't feel dehydrated, but my urine is so dark it looks brown and I can't even tell if it's tinged with red. I slept literally all weekend except for maybe 30 min here or there and this is the first time I'm looking at this. My parents are flying down next week to move my baby and me up there in Denver to move in with them so we can have round-the-clock help.

I didn't think GI would call back because it was Sunday.

I'm already on Flagyl and Xifaxin which are not helping diarrhea at all. C. diff. tests are negative but in colonoscopy last week in hospital the mucus made that GI think that it should be positive because it only looks that way with c. diff.
